Black Dossier ("the app") is developed by Duskwing Studios ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what data the app collects, how it's used, and — just as importantly — what stays entirely on your device.
Everything you personally enter into Black Dossier — your entries, notes, scores, photos, and Health Log data — is encrypted and stored locally on your device only. We never see it, never receive it, and cannot access it. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no server storing your content.
The only data that leaves your device is limited technical information required for advertising (via Google AdMob) and processing purchases (via Apple's App Store), described below.
This data is protected by encryption derived from your PIN. We have no ability to access, recover, or reset it — if you forget your PIN, your data cannot be recovered by us or anyone else.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Black Dossier shows ads to free-tier users via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:
If you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt, this data may be used to show more relevant ads. If you decline, you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalized. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Purchases (Apple App Store)
If you purchase "Remove Ads" (one-time or subscription), Apple processes the transaction directly. We receive confirmation that a valid purchase was made, but no payment card or billing details ever pass through us — that's handled entirely by Apple.
Black Dossier is rated 18+ and is not intended for use by anyone under that age.
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
